I originally placed a Geocache named Stumpy up the very steep hill behind this Geocache. My mother and her friend took me on an insanely hard and exhausting hike in search of another Geocache. On that hike we decided to place one on the hill. However, we realized it was not a good location because only 1 person attempted in a year. We ended up going back to GZ to find the original container but it was gone. Probably due to heavy rains over the summer.
We decided to archive that Geocache and hide a new one in a safer location that would be more safe from weather. We spent 16 hours that day travelling all around Cripple Creek and Victor. We found 20 Geocaches and 1 Adventure Lab. We had 1 Geocache that we spent a very long time searching for but in the end it was logged as a did not find. We ended the day by coming here, crossing the creek in the dark, and searching for almost 30 minutes for a new stump that could be the new Stumpy. However, we couldn't find a good spot so we all decided that a spot by a cool stump and big rock would do. And so it became the Rock Hard Stump. After we hid it we celebrated my brother's 9th birthday. It was a really fun day!
I want to give an honorary FTF to Hartsdale for being the only one that attempted to find Stumpy. He got about 10 feet from GZ and we found the note he left! I hope he returns and finds Rock Hard Stump.
