The cache is not at the posted co-ordinates, they are for parking just outside the church.
The church of St. John the Evangelist was built in 1876 at the expense of William Lawson Esquire of Longhirst Hall to the designs of Sir Arthur Blomfield. It is a Grade II Listed Building and has many interesting features.
The Lychgate was built in 1885 and was damaged in 2021 and has been rebuilt, There is a short Youtube film.
There has been a cache here before, but it was removed after a car hit the lychgate.
To obtain the numbers for the co-ordinates for the final, you will need to take a short walk around the church and find four headstones. They are all near the paths, but as usual please be respectful of the church and churchyard.
To get the co-ordinates for the final location N55 11 ABC W001 38.DEF you will need to visit four headstones:
Location 1
N55 11.614 W001 38.867
A = The number of letters in the town where he drowned.
B = The first digit of the day he died.
Location 2
N55 11.612 W001 38.835
C = The day he died in May
Location 3
N55 11.610 W001 38.823
D = The last number of the year of her death minus 1.
Location 4
N55 11.609 W001 38.804
E = Count the number of letter 'E' in the inscription on the headstone and add 1
F = The third digit of the year of his death?
The final location is outside the church and grounds.
