Geocache Description:

Welcome to the 12 Days of Cachemas!

Omaha-area cachers will place 12 caches all over the Omaha metro area, one on each day from December 13-24. You can expect a variety of types of hides and containers, and keep in mind that the caches will publish at different times of the day. Some will be more challenging than others, but none will be higher than 2.5 in D or T.

Thank you to the COs who are volunteering their time and effort to make this a fun event for us all to enjoy!

Each cache will each contain an FTF prize in the shape of a Christmas ornament. If you get an FTF and collect the ornament and get another FTF on another day, you can decide to leave the ornament for the STF or take it for yourself. The spirit of Christmas says let another geocacher have the joy of an ornament.

Happy Cachemas 2023!!

The 2nd Day of Cachemas 2022 was titled "J&LA Love a Music Puzzle." Well, this year we were fortunate enough to actually land on day 12 (Christmas Eve), so here's a musical cache we've wanted to place for a very long time. We really hope you like it!

About the Cache & GZ

This is a 2-stage multi placed on 2 private properties with very special permission (Update: stage 2 moved temporarily to public property due to construction work on main drainage lines blocking access). Please be as respectful as you can at both locations.

The first stage is at a geocaching-friendly, muggle-family’s private residence. As such, please refrain from arriving at their home before 8am or after 9pm. The entire family is very musical & these songs are household favorites. This field puzzle is designed to be relatively playable by elementary-aged kids, so you are welcome to let the younger cachers try. Most adults should know the majority of these songs, but if you aren’t too sure, you can always ask a friend or Google the ones you don’t know. The more diverse your group, the better, so bring a friend.

The final may require a couple blocks grassy walk, slightly steep incline, &/or some minor underbrush. Also, be sure to READ the note you get when you've cleared the checker for a special gift.

Additional Instructions

Before you head out, you may want to refresh your memory on well-known Christmas songs & basic music notation. You'll need to recognize 5 short clips (which is 1/6 of our list) by ear. We have removed all staves, clefs, measures, ties, & key/time signatures; we provide only musical notes & rests, but the songs may still be recognizable without the rhythms.

Go to the posted coords, find the size large lock n lock with the red bow on it, play the music provided, then find the name of the song you just played on the list inside the cache. In Certitude, enter the number in front of each song *in the order played* with a hyphen (-) between each number to get the final coordinates.

For example, if we supplied the following song list & the 3 songs you played were Ave Maria, We Three Kings, then Canon Carol, you would enter 78-3-19

EXAMPLE ONLY
3 We Three Kings
15 Santa Claus is Coming to Town
19 Canon Carol
25 Go Tell It on a Mountain
45 Angels From the Realm of Glory
78 Ave Maria
99 Oh Christmas Tree

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
