Geocache Description:

Acknowledgement of Country

I would like to pay my respects to the First People: the traditional custodians of the lands and waterways of Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri Country. I would like to acknowledge that this geocache has been placed on what always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

This'll likely be the most bizarre idea for a cache series I'll ever come up with. Lou Bega's 1999 hit, 'Mambo No. 5 (a Little Bit of...)', is iconic and has become an important staple of fun parties. Stephen King's wife nearly divorced him because he played this song on repeat too many times. But the questions remains: where are the 4 Mambos before it? There are no Mambos No. 1-4 in Lou Bega's discography. Has he kept them stored away for a later release? Are they being kept under wraps by the CIA? It's one of the world's biggest mysteries. But, I have now hidden 5 caches named Mambos No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 which means that the sequence is complete and things are just right.

This miniseries of Mambos No. 1-5 is another excuse for cachers to visit the beautiful trails of Googong Dam. After completing my nearby BBL series and Shoreline Fishing series, follow the Bradleys Creek Walk to nab these 5 finds. The views are stunning. I recommend long pants, hiking shoes and gaiters. There are rocky inclines at some of the caches so be careful on accent and decent. Snakes are also a risk in this area during warmer months. Please be stealthy in case of muggles.

The first 4 Mambo caches are Traditional caches (GCAG1K4, GCAG1K5, GCAG1K6, GCAG1K8) 200mL Sistemas with some small swaps. Inside the first 4 are numbers A, B, C and D which will be needed to unlock the combination lock at Mystery cache, 'Mambo No. 5' (GCAG1K9), see its description for the formula). It's a regular sized cache located at its posted coordinates but can only be logged online once you crack the combination and sign the logbook. Numbers for A, B, C and D are on laminated cards with lyrics for those who can't remember the words to Mambo No. 5. All you need to write down/photograph is the number, please leave each card inside the cache for the next finder.

Please note that during daylight savings, Googong Dam is open from 8am to 8pm and in non-daylight saving times, it is open from 8am to 6pm. Do not enter the reserve outside of these times.
