Geocache is NOT AT POSTED COORDINATES!
Solve the puzzle to reveal the final coordinates.
Recently a good Geocaching friend of mine left a Snide Remark (tee-hee) on one of my new puzzle caches. They wanted an easier puzzle with a longer hike.
Well, this one is for them. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! (GREASEPOT)
This is a significant 10-mile round trip hike out and back. The parking coordinates are a good place to start your journey up the Cub Creek Trailhead, although this Cache can be accessed out of Staunton State park as well. Alltrails rates this hike as moderate/hard, and depending on your speed I would give yourself a minimum of 5-7 hours to complete. The trail is shaded for the most part, but will require traction devices in the winter. You will earn your terrain rating with this hide; you are searching for an ammo can perched high atop a rocky overlook. The cache resides about 135 feet from the trail and requires a short Boulder Scramble to GZ. Spoiler pictures are available in the gallery, best to grab a screen shot ot two ahead of time.
No such thing as bad weather-only bad clothing. Please make sure to pack plenty of layers, food, water, extra batteries, sunscreen, hiking pole and good footwear, traction devices like micro spikes are essential in Winter. Make sure to let others know where you are and when you are expected back. Best to download coordinates and waypoints ahead of time as there is no cell service for the majority of the hike (except a small portion up top). Stay safe, have fun and Happy Hunting!
