Geocache Description:

The original Highland Park pool’s bathhouse building was erected at Montreal Avenue and Edgcumbe Road in 1936, of Platteville limestone as one of many Works Progress Administration (WPA) buildings in Saint Paul. The WPA was a federal program that provided public jobs during the Great Depression.  The Pool House is not a registered historic building, but is considered by the City as a “historic resource.”  The original Pool House building closed  after the current Highland Park Aquatic Center opened in August, 1979.

Enjoy the WPA architecture and construction, public art and gardens while strolling in historic Highland Park in St. Paul. Park in designated lot, nearby street is MN 51 and sees a lot of semi-truck traffic. Short walk via city sidewalk, watch for flying discs - disc golfers can take a quick detour after hole #12 and find this cache.  Coordinates averaged from seven readings, should be close - experienced cachers have seen this setup before - no need to touch the building.  Use your best urban stealth, please rehide carefully.  BYOP - CITO  appreciated - park hours 6am-10pm.  Side note - the old pool was Olympic-sized, check out the space that it left.  And there was a miniature golf course just down the hill, an early favorite memory of Minnesota.
