Geocache Description:

The folklore of winter weather is fascinating. You’re sure to know some of these weather sayings, passed down by generations of people who lived close to the land and nature. Which ones do you know?

Winter is the harshest season. The natural world—clouds, birds, animals, and plants—all provided cues to predict what the winter will bring! Generations of hunters, farmers, and fishermen relied upon this weather lore to predict storms and the severity of the coming winter.

Did you know: The study of weather proverbs is known as paroemieology. Most are fanciful fun with no basis in scientific fact while others have been found to have a kernel of truth at their core.

“As the days lengthen, the cold strengthens.” (The coldest time of the year is mid January, about three weeks after the shortest day.)

About this Geocache:

There is a coordinate system that does not rely on numbers, latitude and longitude.  This coordinate system breaks the world into small "squares" and each "square" is assigned three words in a specific order.  I am curious why it came to be.  Any guesses?

This geocache is a mystery geocache disquised as a letterbox.  Some like to have high Difficulty stars, so understand that this is not a five minute find.  I (CCSquire) like to have some depth to geocaches.  I am always willing to help and sometimes I make a way to discover a solution in more than one way.  Let the puzzle begin:

Find the three words in this paragraph and look up the location online.  WHAT 3 WORDS you ask?  Well let me tell you.  Look what was DUMPED by the GOLFER.  A DIAGRAM showing where to find the geocache!

Note there is a stamp in the cache but please take your own ink pad.  They work better when they are not frozen!  Please keep the stamp in the geocache.  Second note...there are online convertors, if you like to use standard coordinates.

As always, put it back in a way less likely to be seen by skiers and those snowshoeing.
