Highest Gum Can in Brighton? Mystery Cache

Memories

I thought that the time had come to retire this geocache due to the difficulty in maintaining it. Below is a summary of the achievements of this cache.

This cache was placed in 2023, and was placed, published and found all on the same day, which I found very cool. A month later, the cable tie supporting the cache was probably cut, not to worry though, as I as a great CO came to quickly fix it. The geocache was then solved and found by lots of people, creating many great memories for many wonderful geocachers.

Today Team GGG paid a last visit to the geocache to collect the brittle container to be archived. All parts of the container have been removed and recycled, as our commitment to CITO and caring for the environment.

If luck is on our side, a cache that is significantly easier may come out for IRC to replace this cache.

I would like to thank

  • All finders that climbed the tree to sign the log - thanks, I hope you enjoyed the challenge!
  • Those who gave favourite points - appreciate you!
  • vk2df, the first to directly state that the cache was not as it should be, so that I knew to do maintenance - thanks!
  • team novo, replacing the brittle cable tie for me - thanks for your swift maintenance!

Geocache Description:

Thanks To GHHH for letting me continue this amazing series. This is the seventh installment. Read the info on previous caches in the series to learn more.

Highest Gum Can in Brighton?

The Gum Can is a sibling to the mint tin because of it's highly common use as well as the mint tin. They both contain yummies when first opened and still smell fresh after. This cache is overlooking Botany Bay, a historic place in Australian history as this is where the First Landing was in 1788.

There is no container at the posted coordinates, so don't go there unless you want to have an epic beach day. To get final coordinates, you will need to do some Extremely Basic math which can do at home to obtain the final.

A = 3+1

B = 1+2x3

C = 478-475

D = 4x4-8

Final @ S33° 57.ABC E151° 09.ADC

Warning!!!

This is a dangerous cache and is 10 meters up a pine tree and may not be for everyone, you need to be confident in your climbing skill or you could limp away with some serious injuries. I have put this as a T4.5 because the first branch is 3m up and I needed a ladder to get down. Please no swag or TB's for safety and accessibility reasons.  DO NOT ATTEMPT IN HIGH WIND AS IT IS NEAR THE SPINDLY WOBBLY BITS.

This gum can was luckily found on the ground, so luckyyy!!!!! cheeky
