Geocache Description:

Welcome to another addition to the popular Church Micro series. A simple multi with the final coordinates a short distance away.

The coordinates will bring you to a plaque outside the Meeting House of the  Quakers; Religious Society of Friends.  It is a particularly interesting place to visit because, within the Meeting House, is a museum of embroidered tapestries depicting the history of the Quakers and a café (open Tues - Sat when the cache was put out).  I have visited and enjoyed both. You don’t have to be a Quaker to go in.

There have been Quakers in Kendal since the founder - George Fox (1624 - 1691) visited the area and met Margaret Fell (nee Askew) of Swarthmore Hall near Ulverston. She was converted to the new religion and became a founder member of the Religious Society of Friends.  Fox and Fell married in 1669.

The Grade 2* listed building was purpose built for the Quakers in 1816 when several hundred worshippers would meet. It was designed by local architect Francis Webster, father of George Webster who designed the catholic church next door

To find the cache read the plaque and note.:- George Fox visted in ABCD ( year)  . The building was designed for EFG number of people.

 The cache can be found at :-  N54 19. (A+B) G (A+E)   W 2 44.B (F-D) (C-A)

It is an urban cache. Please search,  remove, sign and replace with stealth.
