A public viewing area to get right up close to anything landing or taking off from Sydney Airport Runway 16R-34L can be found on the Alexandria Creek Bayside Council shared public walking path / cycleway. Most international aircrafts use this runway with the best viewing time any day between 6am-11am
Personally, I’d recommend you visit on a day with wind forecast from a southerly direction. This is when planes approaching 16R-34L will be traveling just above your head before landing, it will be loud!
There are free apps available to see live wind readings and where planes are landing and taking off from.
If you wish, add a picture to your log to show others how close up to the planes you were!
While there is plenty of room, beware of cyclists, particularly with little ones 😉.
FTF Honours to the dynamic duos, frazeydaze and oldmorty. You’ve earnt your wings.
The cache:
BYO Pen - Look at the D/T and hint. If you can’t find it, tell me, its probably been muggled.
Getting to the cache:
Leave your car at home, half the fun in caching is getting there, driving your car to a cache is boring 😉. The GZ is public space very accessible 24/7 by bicycle or on foot, with bus stops and train stations reasonably nearby. But if you really wish to drive then read on below.
Parking WP 1 – Here you will find free non timed car parking spots, however, it is a popular parking area for those avoiding International Terminal parking fees. From here you can take the Alexandria Creek shared walking path/cycleway to the GZ.
