The popular nonsense movie Alice in Wonderland is inspired by the book of a longer version of the name written by Lewis Carroll (pen-name). The author was born as Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, he was an English author, poet mathmatician and photographer. Charles would often tell stories and this is how Alice in Wonderland was inspired. He was on an outting where he began to tell a story to Alice Liddell, his close friends daughter, and she begged him to write it down. He did so and later presented it to her on November of 1864 as a handwritten, illustrated manuscript entitled Alice's Adventures Under Ground. It was later published as Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in 1865 under his Lewis Carroll pen-name later shortened in reproductions as Alice in Wonderland.
There are many copies of the books, it has been translated into 174 languages and never been out of print. There are adaptations of screen, radio, art, balllet, opera, musical and inspired board games, video games, as well as depicted in many amusment parks, especially those with storybook themes. One of the most widely known versions of the book in film is Disneys version "Alice in Wonderland" which was a cartoon version that released in 1951. Before this release there was a black & white 8 minute film named Alice's Wonderland, with some similar aspects. This released in 1923. Another version (Edison Mtg.Co.) was released in 1910; Alice's Adventure in Wonderland. And here is a trailer for an Alice in Wonderland 1933 film. Later there was another live person version in 1985 Alice in Wonderland feachering Natalie Gregory as Alice.
I'm sure you could find many other versions, I have 9 different VHS copies and and 6 DVD versions, not to mention all the printed copies and record releases available.

As of 1/12/24 I added a "may require wading" attribute to this cache. During flooding, there are a few ditches that could potentially become full or overfull of water. Choose your caching day wisely. This would also be important to know for the Adventure Lab.
Many thanks to fellow geocachers for the 2023 Best Adventure Lab nomination, which includes this bonus cache!
