今回、広島県と愛媛県の県境に架かる、斜張橋としては開通当時世界一の長さで、現在も国内最長を誇る「多々羅大橋」のたもとにある展望広場にキャッシュを仕掛けました。GZに腰かけると、それは愛らしい「レモンベンチ」が視界に入ってくることでしょう。

レモンとえいば「多々羅大橋」広島県側の山麓に広がるかんきつ畑は通称「レモン谷」と呼ばれ、一面にレモン畑が広がります。レモン谷の歴史は古く、明治時代には栽培が始まったとされています。昭和38年には生産量約900トンを誇る日本一のレモン産地となり、その名の通り「レモン谷」と呼ばれるようになりました。
The citrus groves that stretch at the foot of the mountains on the Hiroshima Prefecture side are commonly known as "Lemon Valley", and are covered with lemon groves. The history of the "Lemon Valley" is long, and is said to have begun in the Meiji period (1868-1912). 「レモン谷」には、千本を超えるレモンの木が植えられており、初夏には花が咲き、夏や秋にはグリーンの実が、そして冬から春にかけては黄色く色づいた果実がたわわに実ります。レモン谷から望む、陽光きらめく多々羅大橋は息を飲む美しさで、「しまなみ海道」のハイライトのひとつです。
