PARCO RUFFINI
Questo parco fu progettato nel corso degli anni Venti e inaugurato il 31 dicembre 1925, con il nome di Parco "Principe Gerolamo Napoleone Bonaparte"; soltanto nel 1945 cambiò denominazione e venne intitolato al famoso giurista, ex Ministro e professore universitario, Francesco Ruffini.
Il progetto del parco fu concepito come un “Valentino Nuovo”, in grado di soddisfare la richiesta della collettività nella zona di Borgo San Paolo, oggetto di intensa industrializzazione proprio nei primi decenni del Novecento, con relativi capannoni industriali e case operaie.
Il parco si sviluppò prevalentemente sul terreno della famosa cascina “Galiziana”, che apparteneva ad un’antica famiglia originaria di Como e giunta a Torino intorno al ‘600.
Consegnata alla città nel 1934, questa oasi verde ospitò dal 1937 al secondo dopoguerra una colonia elioterapica e una piscina che, ben presto divennero le maggiori attrattive della zona. A quel periodo risalgono sia la costruzione dello stadio, ora intitolato alla memoria di Primo Nebiolo, sia di un padiglione adibito ad asilo infantile.
Il Palazzetto dello Sport ubicato al suo interno venne progettato e realizzato in occasione dei festeggiamenti per il centenario dell’Unità d’Italia, nel 1961, dal celebre architetto Pier Luigi Nervi.
Negli ultimi quarant’anni del Ventesimo secolo il parco è stato ampliato e interamente pedonalizzato, si è arricchito di specie arboree e di numerosi servizi per lo sport e il tempo libero e, nel 1985, di una fontana nei pressi di viale Hughes. Sono sorti campi da tennis, da calcetto, da calcio, una pista di pattinaggio, la rampa di skateboard, frequentati annualmente da migliaia di persone. Il percorso ginnico, le aree giochi bimbi, i giochi bocce e la scacchiera gigante sono ulteriori risorse che rendono questo parco un punto di riferimento, di incontro e di svago per bambini, adulti e anziani e lo sfondo di numerose manifestazioni.
Per quanto riguarda la cache, abbiate cura di controllare che non ci sia troppa gente nelle vicinanze e di rimetterla esattamente come l'avete trovata, anche solo un minimo spostamento potrebbe renderla sospetta a coloro che non conoscono il gioco e dunque vulnerabile.

THE RUFFINI PARK
This park was designed during the 1920s and inaugurated on 31 December 1925, with the name "Principe Gerolamo Napoleone Bonaparte" Park; only in 1945 did it change its name and was named after the famous jurist, former minister and university professor, Francesco Ruffini. The park project was conceived as a "Valentino Nuovo", capable of satisfying the demand of the community in the Borgo San Paolo area, the subject of intense industrialization in the first decades of the twentieth century, with related industrial warehouses and workers' houses. The park developed mainly on the land of the famous "Galiziana" farmhouse, which belonged to an ancient family originally from Como and who arrived in Turin around the 1600s. Delivered to the city in 1934, this green oasis hosted a heliotherapy colony and a swimming pool from 1937 until after the Second World War which soon became the area's major attractions. Both the construction of the stadium, now dedicated to the memory of Primo Nebiolo, and of a pavilion used as a nursery school date back to that period. The Sports Hall used inside was designed and built on the occasion of the celebrations for the centenary of the Unification of Italy, in 1961, by the famous architect Pier Luigi Nervi. In the last forty years of the twentieth century the park was expanded and entirely pedestrianised, enriched with tree species and numerous services for sport and leisure and, in 1985, with a fountain near Viale Hughes. Tennis courts, five-a-side football fields, a skating rink and a skateboard ramp have been created, frequented by thousands of people annually. The gymnastics path, the children's play areas, the bowls games and the giant chessboard are further resources that make this park a point of reference, meeting and leisure for children, adults and the elderly and the backdrop for numerous events.
As for the cache, take care to check that there aren't too many people nearby and put it back exactly as you found it, even just a slight movement could make it suspicious to those who don't know the game and therefore vulnerable.
