Church Micro 15003...Stotfold - Methodist
Stotfold Methodist Church is situated by the crossroads right at the heart of Stotfold. The church extends a warm welcome to everyone, whether it's local residents or those just passing through. In 1786 a building in the tenure of William Bennet and owned by William Bristow was licensed for the use of the Wesleyan Methodists in Stotfold. The first chapel was built in 1824 and shortly afterwards enlarged with the addition of a gallery. The present chapel and building was built in 1869 and redesigned inside in 1969. Further alterations were made in 1983. The congregation from the former Primitive Methodist church at Brook Street, Stotfold amalgamated with High Street in 1973. The church in Brook Street was demolished.
