Geocache Description:

BetaCross

The cache is not at the posted coordinates.  Solve the following puzzle to learn the true cache location.

I have used crosswords for solving many of my geocaching puzzles.  The online solver app allows you to verify every answer as you work.  This saves the problem of having no idea where your error(s) are if the solution Checker isn't happy.  Plus, filling out crossword puzzles online is fun!

However, my past puzzles have caused problems with the final step, which required copying the solver app URL into the Checker.  This puzzle is a beta test of a new method for that final step.  It is explained in the instructions below.

In your Found It log (or via a Message), please let me know how your experience went, and if you have solved previous puzzles, if this seems like an improvement.

Crossword puzzle instructions:

  • Keep the cache listing open in one browser tab and the crossword in another and switch back and forth.

  • Click the clue you wish to enter an answer for.  For example, click "2 Across" in the column on the right and the cursor will be placed and ready to enter an answer.

  • To change direction of typing, press the right- or down-arrow keys.

  • Click "Revert" to clear your entries and start over.

  • Click "Save" to save your progress so far.

  • Click "Check Answers" to have your work checked.  A new page will load with each answer marked either right or wrong.  Click the browser back-arrow to return to the puzzle.  Feel free to use this button as much as you would like while working on the puzzle.

Here's how to get the cache coordinates:

  1. When the last letter square has been filled in, click "Check Answers".  If any of your answers have red X's, they are incorrect.  Click the browser back-arrow (page back) to return to the puzzle and make corrections.  Repeat until all the answers have a green check mark.

  1. On the Check Answers screen, press Ctrl-A to select the entire page.  Then use Ctrl-C to copy the page.

  1. Use the following link to open an app that will process your answers:

Process Answers (Right-click & Open link in a new tab)

Press Ctrl-V to paste your answers, then click Submit.

  1. Click this Checker Link and enter the keyword supplied in the app.  Click "Certify my Solution".  If correct, you will receive the cache coordinates.

You can solve the puzzle online by clicking the following applet link.
