A major focus of the reason to build a bypass to Marshy Hope and twin the 104 was the multiple tragic deaths along this section of highway. Many crosses line the trees and ditches through Marshy Hope. The weathered and worn cross still seen on a tree by the brook at the cache location was erected in the early 1990's for a high school friend of mine, Charlene. She perished at this location; never to have finished high school.
There is a wide parking area at the end of the bridge across the road from the cache, where there is not a guard rail. Parking is safe here, and as this highway is no longer the TCH, there now is very little traffic at this location.
