History
Aspen Park started out as property of the Brandon Water Company before the city became incorporated. In 1979 the city purchased the Brandon Water Company and the accompanying land that would become Aspen Park. In 1982 seven softball fields and one baseball field were constructed. The original restroom/concessions stand was built in 1983 and the bike trail was added in 1986. An additional softball field was added in 1989 with the pool coming in 1990 and the tennis courts in 1992. The water treatment plant was constructed in 1999 as Aspen Park remains one of the main sources of water for the city. The current playground was built in 2004 with another larger restroom/concessions stand added in 2008. The following year, 2009, we constructed a “shop” building just south of the water plant. This building contains one of the city’s wells, two single bathrooms and a maintenance shop area. In 2011 Gil Haugen built 2 RC tracks at the south end of the park, in 2023 the RC track was moved further south. In 2018 the BVBA and the City renovated field A and the original restroom/concessions building respectively. Sprinkle in a storm sewer project, drain tile projects, dugout improvements and shade structure additions and Aspen Park hasn’t sat idle very often.
Hockey Association is now building a indoor hockey rink at the south end of the park!
Description
Aspen Park is a busy park! Baseball, softball, tennis, pickle ball, volleyball, RC cars, pool and flag football. If you want something to do, go there! With everything going on Aspen is busy from the first nice day of spring until the last nice day of fall. Keep an eye on Aspen Park as it is constantly changing, growing and improving!
