A celebration in The Ramaroa Centre, Queen Elizabeth park
I learned last year from a history book I was reading, that the Romans celebrated birthdays with enthusiasm. Amongst other things it involved wearing a special white tunic, the ritual burning of incense, the munching of little cakes, a potential animal sacrifice, and the chucking of special wine onto a hissing fire. Sounds fun, though Roman birthdays were more sacred rite of passage than a cheerful day of partying.
I thought the Roman idea was an excellent one. I’m having a special birthday so why not follow suit?
I’ve found a white Tee shirt at the back of the wardrobe
We’ll have a cake and bonus birthday biscuits,
sausages on the barbie (the equivalent of an animal sacrifice),
burning of incense (hmmm, not sure),
and tomato sauce instead of special wine on the fire
(although perhaps marinade would be better).
Why not join me and celebrate the day? There may even be a celebratory new cache or two.
Parking Request: Please do not park in front of the Ramaroa building - time limit is 15 minutes, we are hoping you will stay longer than that, and you can park on the grass verge that runs all along Whareroa Road.
