This cache will take you through the East and West SheShan Parks where you can visit nature, the basilica and the Observatory. It is a nice day excursion from Shanghai, easily accessible with public transport ( Line 9 , bus 92/94). the cache probably only takes less than an hour in total, but you will probably spend more time, enjoying the views and visiting the buildings

The SheShan Basilica is a significant pilgrimage site, constructed in 1871 by French missionaries. Dedicated to Our Lady of Sheshan, it blends Western and Chinese architecture, offering panoramic views from SheShan Hill. The annual May 24th pilgrimage attracts visitors seeking blessings. Renovations in the 20th century preserved its cultural and historical importance.
The SheShan Observatory is a historical astronomical site, (entrance fee 12 RMB) established in 1900. It houses a 13.3-inch refractor telescope and mainly historical artefacts. The observatory played a crucial role in early Chinese astronomy and education. Visitors can explore its rich astronomical heritage, witness vintage telescopes, and appreciate the contributions of SheShan Observatory to China's scientific legacy.
