Welcome to Congress! Can you earn enough votes to be elected Speaker of the House?
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Earn 218 Representative Votes to win the Speakership
1 Cache Find in a State = Vote from that State up to it's total number of representatives.
Have at least 25 caches in at least 1 State to represent minimum age requirement.
As per the Constitution, the U.S. House of Representatives makes and passes federal laws. The House is one of Congress’s two chambers (the other is the U.S. Senate), and part of the federal government’s legislative branch. The number of voting representatives in the House is fixed by law at no more than 435, proportionally representing the population of the 50 states as determined by the Census - in order to minimize the differences in population between House districts.
Elected by the whole of the House of Representatives, the Speaker acts as leader of the House and combines several institutional and administrative roles. For each cache you find in a state you will win one of their House Seats, up to as many as that state has. For example, if you find 30 caches in California and 30 caches in Nevada, you will win 30 House seats from California and 4 House seats from Nevada. You win the Speakership when you have won votes (caches) from at least 218 House seats.
To be a member of the House, you have to be at least 25 years of age and a US citizen for at least 7 years. So to honor that requirement, this challenge also requires you to have found a minimum of 25 caches in a single US state. When you claim your title, let us know what State you choose to represent!
