This is my very first hide, having only just discovered the game in May 2023. With several months of experience and at least 200 finds under my belt, I felt it was about time to contribute back to the game and other players by putting out some of my own caches to be found.
The suburb of Highbury, Palmerston North is located to the north-west of the city CBD, with 5000 of the 92,000 residents of Palmerston North living within its boundary. Ngati Hineaute, a hapu (subtribe) of the local iwi (tribe) Rangitane are the recognised kaitiaki (guardians) of the Highbury area. There are 3 schools in Highbury; 2 Primary and 1 Intermediate to service the local children, who make up 23% of Highbury residents. Many of the street names in Highbury reflect names of places in Britain; Brighton, Coventry, Somerset, Lancaster, Brentwood showing the ties of the area to the early settlers of Palmerston North.
The local Highbury Shopping centre consists of 2 dairies, 2 ATM machines (ANZ and Westpac), a bakery, a fish n chip shop, liquorstore, barberhop, secondhand/charity store, Ngati Hineaute kohanga reo, and community health service provider, Te Wakahuia o Manawatu.
The shopping centre space was recently given a small but much needed makeover of its surroundings, with the installment of new judder bars and a pedestrian crossing to improve safety. As well as new seating, picnic tables and shade sails for the community's leisure.
The area is extremely busy, with a lot of foot traffic throughout the day and a fair bit of vehicle traffic passing regularly at night. You will need to be stealthy in your retrieval.
