Here you will find the main entrance to Legion Fair. The fair started its beginnings in 1891 and with the help of late steel magnate Charles M. Schwab in the 1920’s grew somewhat until hard times caused it to go bankrupt and the buildings fell into disrepair. A group of local American Legions bought the grounds in 1946 and worked to rebuild and continue the fair. Several large fires consumed some of the largest buildings but the Legionnaires prevailed and the fair continues today. The fair always opens Labor Day week. The grounds once had a half mile oval race track for cars and horses, a skating rink and stables leased for keeping livestock. I always thought it would be a good place for a campground too.
