As part of the airport expansion agreement between the Port of Seattle and the surrounding neighborhoods, green spaces were set aside on both the north and south ends of the runways. Thanks to that agreement, this Community Center, numerous sporting fields, tennis courts, RMC tracks, a world class BMX track, disc golf, Tub Lake, a botanical garden with a pea patch, and miles of dog walking and mountain bike trails have been realized. And yes, some fun geocaching hides.
It shouldn’t be surprising that the Port continues to break earlier commitments. They are now trying to turn some of this green space into parking and warehouses. The group Defenders of North SeaTac Park is fighting against this break in trust.
This tricky cache is in honor of this green space and those fighting to keep it.
