BIN 1080450 is the replacement bridge for the wonderful, historic steel truss two-span bridge BIN 1030480 that was decommisioned and demolished in November of 2023 (see cache GC9FYC4).
This new bridge is sleek and functional but seems stark and lonely compared to the charm and character of the old green steel deck bridge that it replaced, which had escorted millions of travelers over the Chenango River for the previous 87 years.
But alas, the world moves ahead and progress pushes the past behind us. But thank goodness that we still have memories, photographs and geocaches to help us recall the marvels of days gone by.
