Geocache Description:

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
The tradition continues with Christmas Tree Cache 20

Christmas has always been a favorite time in my household, so I hope this Christmas Tree Cache will give you some joy during this season, and forget about all the craziness that is happening around you.

I have placed a new present in the woods, stocked it with swag and decorated the trees at GZ. This is just a small set of the ornaments that have been collected over the years.

  1. Feel free to bring your own ornaments and add to the decorations. Consider this a Community Christmas Tree!
  2. There should be lots of swag for the kiddos. Usually the rule in geocaching is trade up, but since this is Christmas, if you have nothing to trade, just let the kids take a gift. If the swag gets low, just mention it in your log and I will try to get out quickly to restock.
  3. Please feel free to include one, or more, of your family traditions in your log, so we all can share in each others holiday traditions. I read every log.

This should be an fairly easy walk back to the cache (depending on the weather) and a great cache for the whole family. Trails will take you most of the way, with a bit of bushwhacking for the last 100 feet or so.  The walk back from parking on Lake Road is under a mile.

Sorry for the lateness of hiding this cache. It has been a hectiic December and time got away from me.  It's not easy to find a place in Webster Park that is open and also has an evergreen tree to decorate.  This year is no exception.  When hiding the Christmas Tree Chache, we strive to get far enough off trails, so to not be noticed by any passersby, but easy enough to find for the average geocacher.

I tried to find a spot in two different areas outside of Webster Park, but neither had an abundance of evergreen trees.  So, I came back to Webster Park.  But my backup spot was taken by a new cache that was too close.  So, had to drop back and punt.   This spot is not my favorite spot, as it is very close to the campground.  I chose a Charlie Brown-type location, just two very small evergreen trees next to a very large one.   The container is in the crook of the large tree and the ornaments are on the two little trees.  Unfortnately, that means a lot of the larger ornaments in the collection could not be used.  So, I had to resort to mostly smaller ornaments.

Please note that, when I took over the Christmas Tree cache, I was given three large grocery bags full of hundreds ornaments, and new ones are added each year.  I had to trash some that were broken or didn't stand up to the weather well.  I can't hide all the ormnaments I have, so if you don't see one you added from a prior year, it's nothing personal.  I will try and rotate them around, so new ones are displayed each year.
