Geocache Description:

PotORMOŽ

ZGODBA GRAJSKE GOSPODARICE IRME

Vendar so bile njena največja strast kače.

The story of the castle mistress, Countess Irma
Those in the network remember her as a good, but somewhat exotic lady who had a great love for flowers and greenery. It is to her credit that many rare tree species from all over the world are planted in the Ormo Park.
However, her greatest passion was snakes. People can still tell today that she kept all kinds of reptiles in the castle and park. She fed them milk and gave them a lot of her attention. When guests were spending the night in the castle, it could also become quite loud, as many a noble lady screamed in horror and indignation when she encountered one of the countess's crawling pets that lived in the castle in the evening in her bed. The servants had clear instructions that all bedrooms should be thoroughly inspected and snakes removed before evening. However, sometimes a snake managed to hide from their watchful eye.
After 1945, the countess was no longer allowed to live in the castle, but she did not want to leave Ormož and settled in one of the townspeople's houses. The last Countess of Ormo, Irma Wurmbrand, died in 1970 and is buried in the family chapel in the park.
Legend has it that in the form of a snake she still likes to return to the castle to check if everything is as it should be in the castle even today.
