Geocache Description:

06 February 2024, 16:30 - 17:30

Where: Silly Mountaain Park is just north of Hwy 60 at Silly Mountain Road.  There is parking on both sides of Silly Mountain Road.  There are no reservable ramadas at this park.  We will set up at the center of the Botanical walk area near the posted coordinates.

Thank you to Jake with AJ Parks.  He has been assured we will be cleaning up and will be treating the botanical area with the utmost respect!  We have been welcomed in.

What to bring: Please bring a plastic bag (grocery bag size is great) , gloves, grabbers, water.  Please, as individuals, lets take our trash filled bags home with us....PLEASE.  Sign in or let me know you're there, then feel free to wander the trails and pick up the trash around the park.

As usual, logging a "will attend' will get announcements and reminders.  Then, don't forget to log an 'attended' online at geocaching.com.

Silly Mountain Botanical Walk area is home to 35 species of some 280 indigenous plants - an important area in the future of this park!  Be kind and be alert in picking up trash. This is only a 1/3 mile 'infinity' shaped sidewalked area.

Silly Mountain Park is open to those riding bikes and those hiking.  Trails (all 10 of them) are open to all as well as your leashed pups. There are several nearby geocaches by several different CO's.

Where did the name Silly Mountain come from?  Silly Mountain Park’s humble beginnings started with the naming of a road near the mountain. In the early 1970s, a Pinal County Road Grader, Harry Cadwalader, lived along the gravel road with his family.  He told his supervisor that he wanted to name the street, and eventually, he was granted the opportunity, calling it Silly Mountain Road. It’s unknown what he was referencing as silly, whether it was the road or mountain. Ultimately, the Silly name was attached to both the road and the mountain

Mark February 6, 2024 (a Tuesday) on your calendar.  4:30 p.m. will be the start time - this provides an opportunity for folks that work days to stop by and lend a hand, too. As always, in my humble opinion, it takes teamwork between each of us working together and the parks allowing us to help them out.
