BP Batam is abbreviation of Batam Pengusahaan Batam. This monument is built to commemorate BP Batam as the pioneer that built Batam city together with Pemko Batam as City Official. This is one of the characteristic of Batam island as well as Free Trade Zone.
In this roundabout, 3 commemoration plaque built when 3 country prime minister / president from Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia plant these trees during early development at Batam island. The tree (Ficus Benyamina) was planted in 29 November 1987 and become historical event for the 3 countries as President Soeharto (Indonesia), Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew (Singapore) and Prime Minister Dato Seri Dr Mahathir come to the island.
