Geocache Description:

Profbrad is to be credited for this... Do you love events? If so, this challenge cache is for you. The cache IS at the posted coordinates, but in order to sign it and claim the find you'll need to qualify first. See below for details heavily borrowed from GC520PY, a cache I found in West Virginia where I was, you guessed it, on my way to an event in another state (Maryland).

One of the great things about geocaching is that it affords its participants the opportunity to meet people from across town, across the country, and around the world. And the best way to meet them is through organized meetups published on geocaching.com as events.

Local events provide the chance to chat with geocaching friends you might see all the time, to talk about local caches and puzzles, and to discuss the issues that affect the local geocaching community. When you cross state or even international boundaries for events, though, you do so for the chance to hobnob with well-known geocaching names you’ve seen in cache logs and forums; to explore a new area and its legendary hides; and to participate in some of the biggest events geocaching has to offer, the Mega events.

This challenge cache is meant, in part, to be a small reward to those who have taken the vacation days, spent the money on gas and hotel rooms, and spent the long hours in the car (or in planes) to attend geocaching events across the country -- or perhaps even around the world. The cache is located at the posted coordinates, but to be eligible to make the find, you must have attended events in AT LEAST EIGHT STATES, CANADIAN PROVINCES, OR FOREIGN COUNTRIES. (Washington, D.C. would also count.)

PGC Checker

The cache itself is a standard park and grab, a 1 difficulty for experienced cachers. The difficulty rating on the cache listing is for the need to have met the requirements. No FTF prize; the reward, as they say, is in the journey.

This is likely going to be a difficult challenge for many, and I don't think that's a bad thing. For me, the best challenges are aspirational. Some of my favorite caching has been motivated to qualify for challenges. I hope this one provides a similar challenge and sense of satisfaction when you complete it. Living in western central PA makes the task a little easier than it otherwise would be given that there are 7-9 states/districts within easy driving distance. Have fun!
