Geocache Description:

Do not go to the posted coordinates; the cache is not there!  Moreover, you'll likely get wet.  Just south of this point, however, you can see one of marvels of the telecommunication age, namely the transmission tower used by WPRB-FM.  It's tall--989 feet.  As transmission towers go, however, it's only middle of the road in height.  Some are much taller as you'll soon see...

In addition to the transmission equipment these towers have lights on them.  Ever wonder what happens when a bulb burns out?  Somebody has to go change it, of course.  How does someone get up there to do that?  By climbing.  So, watch the linked video and you'll see how it's done.  You'll also get the answers to the following questions which you'll need for the coordinates.

The cache is located at N40 AB.CDE W074 FG.HIJ.  Feel free to watch the video as many times as you like.  Now on to the show--

We must note a few things here:

Despite what the narrator states, OSHA does not permit free climbing.  Anyone more than six feet off the ground must be tied off 100% if there are no protective rails on a structure.  Even when the climber in this video ties off (connects his lanyard to a footpeg) he does it in a very foolish way as the footpeg could give way under the stress of a sudden yank if the climber were to fall.  Also, a tower with guy wires (the cables that keep the tower upright) is a guyed tower, not a gided or guided tower as the video editor typed on the screen.

To get the cache, you will not be required to be tied off, although you may be if you so choose.  Do not try to get this cache if you do not feel that it's within your capabilities.  Stay safe!

Remember also, to claim a find you must sign or stamp the logsheet.  "I forgot my pen"  "I saw it but couldn't get to it" "I just took a picture" are all lame excuses and thus unacceptable.  Online logs without corresponding entries in the cache will be deleted.  Them's the rules!
