The fourteenth event of a CITO series around Canberra. We are heading out of Greater Belconnen, and into North Canberra for this one. Note that this event has been rescheduled to the evening of Thursday 7th March, as I'm away on the weekend.
This CITO focuses on some public land near a carpark off Randwick Road in Lyneham. This area unfortunately has accumulated much rubbish, from dumping, and thus is in need of a clean up, since it is clear the local government / council has not done anything to address this issue.
A parking waypoint has been provided. Otherwise, you can cycle here, or catch public transport and walk from the light rail stop "EPIC and Racecourse" on Flemington Road (a ~250m walk).
The plan is to hold events on the first Saturday of each month, come rain, hail or shine. I am not in Canberra for the first Saturday in March, hence this event occurs on the second Saturday of March
Having visited this area multiple times in the last few months to find nearby caches, it is clear that this area can do with a community clean up event (as can Canberra more generally, so stay tuned for more CITO events). Any items of rubbish that are too large to go into a garbage bag will be transported away from the CITO site and disposed of in skip bins at my home address.
Garbage bags and nitrile gloves will be supplied should you wish to use them. Rubbish grabber/pick up tools are recommended if you have them. Sturdy shoes and sensible clothing are also recommended.
If you attended any of the previous CITO events in this series, then you may have a good idea of what to look for at the meeting point. If not, then look for the banana, and look up!
There will be a competition for FTF. Details are to be confirmed...
