I had to wait several hours after dropping Wellington Family off to their friends place in Hauraki for a pool.visit..
So I decided to do some scouting around to place a couple of new geocaches !
I noticed there was room for some in Bayswater ...and I found this gorgeous spot.
Landsdowne Reserve / Shoal Bay
It could be a birdwatcher's paradise .....According to the nearby sign you might see :
NZ Dotterel , Reef Heron , Banded Dotterel , Caspian Tern , Wrybill , Variable Oystercatcher , Pied Shag , Pied Stilt , White faced Heron , Kingfisher , Bar Tailed Godwit .
Thie entire bay has a Department of Conservation " Site of Special Wildlife Interest " designation.
Plus an Auckland Council " Land and Marine Site of Ecological Significance ."
Some of these species Breed here and are very vulnerable to disturbance and predation.
You can also read up about the shell barrier Beaches ....and it has been said this area is a mini version of Miranda near Thames !
The water looks like the clearest I have ever seen.in my life ....
As for the cache ,,,, It is a small tube in a crevice between 2 rocks on border of Playground
