Geocache Description:

The mission of Bonnet Springs Park is to enrich the community through nature, culture, recreation, and education. This new privately developed 168-acre regional park is a blended urban/natural park that depends solely on public support. The park serves to unify Lakeland's diverse population, offering public spaces that serve the needs of many by providing engaging and diverse opportunities in education and recreation to residents. Repurposing the 168 acres near downtown that once helped Lakeland begin to thrive, Bonnet Springs Park provides connections that spark an ecological renaissance in the community.

THINGS TO SEE: Magnificent giant oak trees, a gurgling stream that flows to Blanton Family Lagoon, the Butterfly House, Botanical Gardens, Nature Center, and the Lagoon Boardwalk are just a few of the experiences you can enjoy at this blended urban/natural park.

NOTE: Park hours vary by season and section of the park.

Cache is placed with permission from Carley Bracewell, Education Manager, Bonnet Springs

HIKE: 1.2-1.5 mile loop trail

This is a Letterbox Hybrid cache. For anyone not familiar with Letterboxing, there is a log in the cache for you to sign and stamp (with your stamp), then you stamp your own log or paper (with stamp that is in the cache). If you do not have your own stamp, then stickers or hand drawn artwork are acceptable or if you do not have your own stamp, you can just sign the log. DO NOT TAKE THE STAMP WITH YOU; IT IS NOT A TRADE ITEM!!!

This geocache is a part of the Trek Ten Trails seasonal program. Participation in that program, while a lot of fun, is not required to log this cache.

New validation game cards that participants stamp are available at various locations and are listed on the Friends of the Parks website and OUTPOST 27 CACHE. Trek Ten Trails program maps, game cards, and other information about each of the featured nature trails may be downloaded from the Friends of the Parks website. Check out our Profile for more details.
