Geocache Description:

It's a lovely night to return to beautiful Lincoln Park for more Needful Things! And in the dark!

This is a Night Cache, so the container is NOT located at the posted coordinates. The posted coordinates are a good place to start, though. If the ball field is in use or the grass is too boggy you can follow the trail to the SW waypoint #2, looping around the restrooms. Otherwise, navigate directly to the NW waypoint #3. It is north of the 3rd base side of the ball field, in a small grove of trees where the undergrowth is all cleared away.

While your GPS is settling, look for 2 trees with double glints, as shown in the photo. This is where the trail of glints begins.

You will need a flashlight to spot these glints from a distance. They will be most visible if the flashlight is held near eye height. Glints vary in size and color, and may be placed at eye level, high overhead or close to the ground.

After 20 minutes, more or less, you will pass a small tree on your right with multiple vertical glints. The cache is just a few yards ahead at ground level on the left side of the trail, in an area marked with multiple glints.

In daylight, the terrain rating would be a 2. In the dark, it's a 3.5. You will be walking through the forest, where there are hazards in the form of fallen branches and protruding roots. Keep a light trained on the path while traveling between glints. Participants in this Night Cache hold harmless the cache owner and assume all risks involved in walking through a forest environment in the dark.

Warning: while leashed dogs are allowed in Lincoln Park, please be aware that there are coyotes and owls present. Small dogs would be safer left in the vehicle.

Lincoln Park is open from 4:00 am to 11:30 pm. Please start the night cache adventure by 10:30 pm to allow sufficient time. The parking lots are supposedly open to 11:30 pm also, but security may try to close them earlier. Suggested late-night parking is along the east side of Fauntleroy, at the north-facing Parking Waypoint between SW Rose and SW Thistle Streets.

Happy (night) caching!

(This puzzle cache is part of the West Seattle “Needful Things” series. These caches, with their lengthy titles, are meant to help geocachers who are fans of the now-grandfathered word challenges, and to provide any cacher who is working on a streak, or who maybe isn't ready to go home yet, just one more find. Refer to the linked Needful Things bookmark list for other useful titles in the series and to see what six challenge types these words meet.)
