Geocache Description:

PUBLIC LETTERBOX:  This geocache is one in a Hybrid Letterbox series associated with U.S. Post Office Buildings. Posted (like in Post Office) Coordinates are on a public sidewalk outside of, across the street from, yet in view of, the Post Office Building (not collection boxes). Final Coordinates are in a public place a short distance away and are visible as a Waypoint for those who prefer not to follow the Path Description.

BONUS:  Be sure to look for the Letter Alphabet Code if you want to complete the Bonus GCAHV69.

PATH DESCRIPTION: You as Geocacher will follow the path of a mailed Letter from the Post Office to Final Coordinates about 0.2 mile away. Go South on 276th Avenue S.E. Turn Left or East on S.E. 204th Street. Stop at TH coordinates at Right. Go to Final Coordinates.

LOGBOOK INSTRUCTIONS:  This geocache's Logbook salutes Air Mail.

Imagine an Air Mail delivery from Hobart, Washington (U.S.A.), to Hobart, Tasmania (Australia). See Hobart-stamped Air Mail envelope in photo below.

AIR MAIL HISTORY:  On January 7, 1795, Air Mail, using an air vehicle, was first used to deliver mail. On February 18, 1911, French pilot Henri Pequet (1888-1974) carried the first official mail flown by airplane. The flight occurred in India. Pequet carried a sack with about 6,000 cards and letters on his Humber biplane. On September 23, 1911, Earle Ovington piloted the first authorized U.S. Mail flight in his Bleriot monoplane. Air Mail Act of 1925, or Kelly Act, was a key legislation in the U.S. that freed Air Mail from total Post Office Department, permitting the Postmaster General to contract private companies to deliver mail. On October 10, 1975, Air Mail as a distinct service effectively ended in the U.S., ending officially a couple years later. In any event, in the U.S., all domestic intercity First-Class mails began to be transported by air whenever practical or if expeditious, at the same rate as for ground delivery. See U.S. Air Mail History.

BLOCK STAMP FOR LETTERBOXERS:   A Block Stamp (not a Postage Stamp) is provided for you to stamp only on your own letterbox material and not on the Mail. Do not take this Block Stamp. If there is no Block Stamp in the geocache container, that means that someone before you took it. Please bring and use your own Ink Pad as it is not provided. The Block Stamps in this postal office series are of Sea Life (Vie Sous-Marine) (Vida Marina) such as fish, dolphin, crab, starfish, turtle, octopus, etc.

Congratulations to Terrible Ts for FTF.
