Stationen öppnades som Trelleborgs Nedre 30 april 1897 i samband med öppnandet av Malmö Kontinentens Järnväg.
Persontrafiken till stationen lades ned på 1970-talet, men under 2000-talet fattades beslut om att återuppta denna och stationen med dess banhall renoverades och restaurerades. Stationen trafikeras återigen sedan den 13 december 2015 av pågatågen.
The station was opened as Trelleborgs Nedre April 30, 1897 in connection with the opening of Malmö Continenten Railway.
Passenger transport to the station was closed in the 1970s, but in the 2000s, the decision was made to resume this and the station with its banhall was renovated and restored. The station is once again being operated since 13 December 2015 by the on-board trains.
