Geocache Description:

Caches are along the Fred Meijer Flat River Valley Rail Trail between Belding and Lowell. Parking is in Lowell and Belding. Waypoints for those are in listed in 01 Lowell Showboat. Other than those two locations, you may be able to get away with parking on the side of the gravel roads, but no guarantees. The Fred Meijer Flat River Valley Rail Trail is 22 miles and connects Lowell to Greenville. The trail surface is coarse railroad ballast with paved segments in Belding and Smyrna. In Greenville it connects to the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail and in Lowell it connects to the Fred Meijer Grand River Valley Trail.

Lowell Showboat: Entertainers

Over the years some famous people have appearded on The Showboat Stage.  In the 1960’s some of the performers included Dinah Shore, Milton Berle (known as Uncle Milty), Ray Stevens, the Everly Brothers, and Jerry Reed.

Others included Eddie Peabody (the King of Banjo), Louis Armstrong, Bob Newhart, Frankie Fontaine, Steve Allen, Pearl Bailey and Boots Randolph. If you ask some of the residents of Lowell, they may remember seeing the Oakridge Boys, the Lettermen, Sandi Patti, or the Smother Brothers.

Concerts continued until 1997(except during WWII). Christmas is an important annual event for the community. Every December the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce hosts Santa.
