The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.
There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.
PLEASE NOTE: The cache is NOT at the cemetery!
There are as many as 54 interments at this site, with dates of death ranging from 1861 to 1974. For the most part, it is members of the Denson family that are found here.
The site (shown as the Denison Cemetery on some maps) is at the end of a lane that can be found on the east side of the midpoint of the first segment of the nearby southbound CR 324. However, it is in private property and can only be accessed by arrangement with the landowner. The original placement of this cache was right across the road from the entrance to said lane. However, it incurred the wrath of the nearest resident, who repeatedly destroyed the containers and told one seeker in no uncertain terms that he extremely disliked seeing anyone remotely near his house. At any rate, as always, any refinements to the listed coordinates are welcomed.
