Let's meet for a HIKE and some GeoChatting!
When: Sunday, 28 @ 1:00pm-2:00pm
Where: Lake Sakakawea – Overlook Trail (.4 mile) & Whitetail (.2 mile)
Why: For the fourth year, the North Dakota Park & Recreation Department (NDPRD) has issued a statewide “12 Months – 12 Hikes” Challenge. To participate, just pick and hike a qualifying trail in one of the 14 participating state parks and recreation areas. You can complete your hikes all in one park or explore any of 14 locations across the state. NEW THIS YEAR - the challenge is going mobile! There will be a fresh hiking challenge every season (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) of 2024 through the new North Dakota State Park mobile app. Make it your goal to hike at least three trails each season.
The North Dakota Geocaching Association (NDGCA) would like to help everyone complete their hiking challenge and climb the leaderboard. To do this, we will be hosting an event in a different state park each month, so we can get together with other geocachers and hike.
What: Excited to have the first 12 month 12 hike event of the year. Dress for the weather, snow shoes maybe helpful. We will meet at the visitor center visit a bit and head out on the hike at 1:10pm, just in case anyone is running late. I will have some refreshments and possible door prizes.
Reminders: A daily pass ($7) or annual ND state park pass ($35) is required to enter. Dress for the weather/trails
