Geocache Description:

The original cache site outside the Peabody Museum was demolished, a new CC has been placed in another location.

Please Note:  This is designed as a kids cache and the things inside need to be of decent quality.  If you take something- trade even or up!

The cache is placed near a famous Yale/New Haven landmark, the Peabody Museum of Natural History which is a treasure trove featuring displays of minerals, fauna, Egyptian life, native American cultures and, of course, the dinosaurs.  The building that is now known as the Peabody was built in 1924 but founded in 1866 with money from George Peabody specifically to house the dinosaur reconstructions of his nephew renowned paleontologist O. C. Marsh.  These include the famous Brontosaurus who recently got his name back.  The Peabody has some of the best and historically important fossil collections.  The museum is still actively used for study as well as for teaching purposes.

This is essentially a park and grab but EXTREME stealth must be used and parking can be difficult on busy days.

The cache is NOT inside the museum.

Parking:  There is parking along Sachem Street with meters from 8 am to 9 pm Mon through Sat.  They do ticket.  There is a parking lot for the museum off of Whitney Ave- first left going north after you pass Sachem and the Peabody.
