Geocache Description:

NOTE: Trails may be closed at times due to construction or during the fall deer hunting season. For the latest updates, visit www.trollsdl.com

This Virtual Cache was created in partnership with Geocaching HQ to highlight Trolls in DL, a public art exhibit presented by Project 412. The exhibit features six sculptures designed by Danish recycling artist Thomas Dambo with support from his team of master builders and scores of volunteers.

Known internationally for large-scale public art installations made from recycled materials, Dambo’s vision is to create art that inspires people to get outside to explore, have adventures, and protect our natural spaces. He also hopes visitors to his sculptures will leave with an appreciation for how trash can be turned into treasure.

This Virtual Cache will bring you to Ortenstone Gardens and Sculpture Park, where you’ll find Barefoot Frida! A very outdoorsy type, Frida loves to build fun small challenges for her friends in nature. Maybe she has something planned for you?

Please help us protect Frida’s habitat by visiting during daylight hours. To find Frida, park at the additional waypoint and look for birdhouses and large stones to guide your way.

Logging Requirements

To claim this Virtual Cache, please include a photo of yourself with Barefoot Frida in your log. Photos featuring pets, friends and family, or a personal item will also be accepted.

Logs that do not fulfill this requirement may be deleted.

About the Trolls in DL

Trolls in DL is a public art exhibit presented by Project 412, whose mission is to connect and elevate the cultural and economic vibrancy of the lakes area. Thanks to funding partners, there is no admission fee to visit the trolls.

NOTE: This exhibit launched in summer 2024. Due to the nature of recycled materials and Minnesota's climate, the trolls may experience some weathering each year. Our goal is to preserve the trolls for as long as possible so that the public can continue to enjoy them.

This Virtual Reward Cache was created in collaboration with HQ’s Business Development team.
