The Kansas Vietnam Memorial was modeled after the National Vietnam Memorial in Washington, DC. At the 25th reunion of the Winfield High School Class of 1963 the attendees decided they wanted to do something to recognize a classmate who perished during the war. They started a project which eventually resulted in this beautiful memorial. Dedicated in 1989, it lists the 777 service men and women from Kansas who were lost during this tragic time. This cache, placed on the 50th anniversary of the the end of the VIetnam War, gives us an opportunity to honor those men and women. We hope you will enjoy visiting this smaller version of the Washington DC Memorial.
The memorial consists of 20 panels which are numbered on the bottom of each panel. Please provide the answers to the following questions via text or email. Do not post the answers on your log.
There is a year listed on two of the panels that you need to find for the first two questions:
1. What is the year listed at the top of one panel.
2. What is the year listed at the bottom of one panel.
3, What is the name of the classmate who was lost and on what panel can you find his name.
4. Please provide a picture that will prove that you have been to the memorial. It doesn't have to be a photo but please include something that will confirm that you were here.
