Geocache Description:

The Saint Louis Zoo is rated as one of the best zoos in the country.  It is recognized as a leading zoo in animal management, research, conservation, and education. The zoo is open year round, closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day.  Be sure to check the zoo website for  hours of operation.  Hours of operation may vary according to the season of the year.

The St. Louis Zoo is one of the few zoos in the country that does Not charge an admission fee.  There is a fee to park in the zoo’s two parking lots, but parking along the streets in Forest Park is free.

The posted coordinates will take you to the Wild Station, home and headquarters of the Emerson Zooline Railroad.  The railroad has been operating at the zoo since 1963.  There are 4 stations along the railroad route and, although there is a fee for riding the train, the tickets are good for all day.  Since the St. Louis Zoo encompasses 90 acres, the train is a good way to get around the zoo and save some walking.

When you arrive at the posted coordinates you will be standing in front of the Wild Station.  There is a bronze, oval shaped sculpture in front of the Wild Station.  To claim this virtual geocache email me the information requested below.

1.  What is the three word phrase on the base of the sculpture?

2.  The sculpture is a gift from ………………….?   Last name is sufficient

3.  What is the year listed on the plaque?

Although riding the Emerson Zooline Railroad is NOT required to claim credit for this virtual Geocache, it is fun.  Feel free to post pictures if you want.   All Aboard!
