This Virtual Geocache is available during DAYLIGHT HOURS ONLY - please be RESPECTFUL as this the final resting place of Les Paul and many of the founders of Waukesha.

This is a VIRTUAL geocache, so there is NO physical container to be found. Rather, you have 2 tasks to complete:
1) Using the Geocaching messenger, send me the last name on the grave located BEHIND the Les Paul grave (to the west, behind the evergreens). Please feel free to message me then log this cache, no need to wait for confirmation.
2) Take a photo showing at least part of the grave memorial, while your face cannot be required, you may use a personal item or a piece of paper with your geocaching name.

This Virtual will bring you to the Wizard of Waukesha's Grave - aka Les Paul.
Les Paul (1915 - 2009) is known as the "Father of Modern Music" and the "Godfather of the Modern Recording Studio" for his many inventions and innovations that changed the music industry:
- Solid-body electric guitar: Paul's prototype, "The Log", inspired the Gibson Les Paul, which is considered an iconic instrument that changed modern music.
- Recording techniques: Paul pioneered many recording techniques, including multi-track recording, digital delay, reverb, and overdubbing.
- Playing style: Paul's innovative playing style included licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques, and timing.
- Musical influence: Paul's influence is global and has impacted many artists, including Paul McCartney, Eddie Van Halen, and Slash.
- The Les Paul Foundation: Paul established the Les Paul Foundation in 1995 to support educational organizations and institutions.
- Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Paul has a permanent exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
- National Medal of Arts: Paul received the National Medal of Arts in 2007.
Thank you for visiting and remembering the Wizard of Waukesha. I hope you enjoy the quotes at this location.
WEATHER RELATED SAFETY COMMENT: In the winter months and in rainy weather, it is not advised to walk on the monument area because it becomes hyper slick and the cemetery does block it off but you will still be able to get close enough to see it.
