Wyck Rissington is one of the four Rissingtons in this area but is by far the smallest. There is room for a couple of cars on the road side by the church but the roads are narrow and farm machinery use this road.
St Laurence's Church has a few surprises for such a rural church in a small hamlet. If you have time, have a look round, please remove muddy foot wear when going inside. Inside, especially look for a small brass plaque above the organ and who the organist was.
St Laurence's Church is dedicated to St Laurence who was martyred in Rome in 257AD. The chancel and the massive tower with its unusual trefoil-pierced battlements are 13th Century and were probably built by the monks of Eynsham Abbey. The east exterior with its two pairs of tall lancets and lozenge-shaped lights has been described as one of the gems of the Cotswolds.
Around the walls of the chancel hang 12 unique carved limewood plaques believed to be Flemish, 15th Century, which illustrate the Joyful, the Sorrowful and the Glorious Mysteries of the Gospel.
Also, inside is a mosaic of Canon Harry Cheales maze, which came to him in a vivid dream or vision. This maze was constructed in the rectory garden. The maze represented the years of a pilgrim's life, progressing through childhood, adolescence, middle and old age, death and Paradise, to Heaven.

- At the front of the church, there is a lovely old gas lantern (now electric). Post a picture of yourself or your GPS or something that identifies you've been there please in your log, with the lantern in the background.
