Enjoy a nice "stroll" through town. You can walk to all of these, or drive. Just be aware of the one-way traffic pattern.
This is my 600th Hide and a special one too. Dedicating this one to Mom who really liked those red birds.
To claim a find here you must visit at least one of the Cardinal Statues, take a photo with it, and answer a question about it.
Marion's Cardinal Project
The Cardinal Project is the brainchild of lifelong Marion resident Dean Jacob, who became enamored of the public art projects he had seen in other cities – the cows of Chicago, mermaids of Virginia Beach, guitars of Nashville, wild pigs of Sedona – and wanted to bring a similar public art project to Marion. Funded entirely from private donations, there are 17 cardinal statues that have been installed in Marion and are a hat tip to the cardinal being the state bird and Ohio the 17th state of the Union.

Waypoints for each cardinal are on the cache page, however the posted coordinates will take you to My Feathered Friend which is my favorite statue. Feel free to visit one or as many as you would like, and let me know which is your favorite. Please note that all of the statues are outside except for Marion's Peacekeepers, which is located inside City Hall. If the City Hall building is closed, the cardinal is visible from the sidewalk while looking through the window.

There are TWO requirements to log this geocache:
1. Since this is a virtual cache, there is no physical log book to sign. Simply take a picture of yourself with your favorite cardinal statue in the background. Faces are not required, so if you are shy then a photo of a personal item, such as a trackable, piece of paper with your username and date of visit, or your GPSr, WITH your favorite cardinal in the background. Log the geocache online as usual and include the picture. The picture just needs to demonstrate that you were there yourself. Found It logs without a proper photo (posted within a reasonable timeframe) will be deleted without warning.
2. On the bottom of each statue (coordinates provided as additional waypoints below) there is a Plaque that details the sponsor, designer and painter of the cardinal as well as the story of each Cardinal's design. Please message me the last name of the artist of your favorite statue. You only need to send me the last name for one of the statues (your favorite)... Found it logs without sending the answer to this question (within reasonable timeframe) will be deleted without warning.
