Rotunda sv. Petra a Pavla je jedinou dochovanou stavbou z původního přemyslovského hradu Plzeň. Do současnosti se zachovala jen se štěstím, protože v roce 1785 byla navržena ke zboření. Nakonec se však pro ni našlo využití jako skladiště střelného prachu.
Románská stavba z pravidelného kvádříkového zdiva vznikla patrně na přelomu 11. a 12. století. První zmínka o rotundě však pochází až z roku 1266. Kostelík byl několikrát přestavován a původní zdivo je dochováno pouze torzovitě. Nově vystavěné části kopírují původní půdorys, vstupní portál je však renesanční.
Pro uznání logu musí být splněna tato podmínka:
Vyfoťte sebe nebo lístek se svým nickem s rotundou v pozadí a připojte fotku ke svému logu. Logy bez správné fotografie budou smazány.
St. Peter's and Paul's Rotunda
The only building still in existence of the Premyslid Castle Pilsen is St. Peter's and Paul's Rutunda. It is still standing only by chance, because in 1785 it was proposed for demolition. But then it was used as a gunpowder storage.
A romanesque building from the regular ashlar masonry was probaly founded at the end of 11th century. However, the first mention of the rotunda dates bact to 1266. The church was rebuild several times, and the masonry is preserved only sporadically. The newly built parts copy the origional plan, but the entrance protal is Renaissance.
