Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice. The little blue house on the hill was the childhood home of Anna Pauline "Pauli" Murray. Built in 1898 by their Fitzgerald grandparents, the house anchors the historic site and was designated a National Treasure in 2015 and a National Historic Landmark in 2016.

Anna Pauline "Pauli" Murray was an American civil rights activist, advocate, legal scholar and theorist, author and – later in life – an Episcopal priest. Murray's work influenced the civil rights movement and expanded legal protection for gender equality. S/he was the first Black person to earn a JSD (Doctor of the Science of Law) degree from Yale Law School, a founder of the National Organization for Women and the first Black person perceived as a woman to be ordained an Episcopal priest.

To claim a find on this virtual cache you will need to answer two questions:

1. The mural on the building to the right and closer to the street was created through a partnership with whom?

2. On the mural, what color are the sneakers of the woman in the wheelchair?

This Virtual Cache is part of a limited release of Virtuals created between January 17, 2024 and January 17, 2025. Only 4,000 cache owners were given the opportunity to hide a Virtual Cache. Learn more about Virtual Rewards 4.0 on the Geocaching Blog.
