Gabreil Daveis Tavern

Gabreil Daveis Tavern was built in 1756 as part of a 178 acre plantation. This was the first recorded tavern along the “Irish Road” (Big Timber Creek) leading from Gloucester Township to Great Egg Harbor. Guest could find lodging and a meal for a few shillings and pence.
The Gabreil Daveis Tavern House, also known as the Hillman Hospital House, is a historic building in the Glendora section of Gloucester Township, Camden County, New Jersey. This tavern housed boatmen who used the creek to ship goods to Philadelphia. It was designated a hospital by George Washington during the Revolutionary War. It is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It enjoys a rich history from the Revolution as well a visiting notables including Privateers!
The tavern has had many ghost sightings and stories over the years. The original furnishings are still in the house and there are still bloodstains in the attic. On occasion, people have observed someone walking in the upstairs rooms, lights in the windows, and strange sounds of people suffering
