Geocache Description:

Route 66 is famous.  The Mother Road.  Main Street of America.  It has books, movies, TV series and songs dedicated to its impact on our society.  It was part of the first US Highway system that created direct driving routes that connected our country for travelers using the still new automobile.

It's common knowledge that Route 66 connected Chicago to Los Angeles.  Many know that the first stretch of Route 66 was established in Springfield, Missouri. It entered Illinois in St Louis.  It spanned all of Arizona, California and New Mexico from east to west.  Traversed most of Oklahoma and a chunk of Texas.  Even Las Vegas gets attention - Route 66 NEVER entered Nevada!

Sadly, the mere 13.2 miles of Kansas dirt it covered is all but ignored.  But in that short distance, Bonnie and Clyde hid out there for a while, the only remaining "Rainbow Bridge" is there.  And much of its character as part of the Mother Road remains in the three small towns it passed through.

To  claim this cache, find some of that character along those 13.2 miles, take your picture with it and post it with your log.  No armchair character photos.  You'll need to also have a sign with the date or the GC number in the picture too.
